CLEARWATER POLICE NEWS
"Operation Clamp the Amp"
The Clearwater Police Department (CPD) is starting
a new program called "Clamp the Amp." Citizens can now
report booming car stereos by entering a few details online. Reporting
excessive volume will generate a letter from CPD to the vehicle's
registered owner warning the driver that a violation of Florida
Statute 316.3045 has been reported to CPD.
It is important when providing CPD with information
on loud car stereos that you provide the vehicle tag number, date
of violation, the location, and a quick description of the vehicle
and driver.
Florida Statute 316.3045 prohibits amplitied sound
from a car that is audible 25 feet or more. The penalty is a $91.00
fine. Note: A Police Officer must observe the offense to take enforcemnt
action.
